July 31, 1930: "The forest service will construct the snowline highway to a point below Gray butte, where one of the lookouts is stationed. It is their intention to erect a modern, standard lookout station there this fall." (Siskiyou Daily News)
April 23, 1931: "Under the direction of Frank Myers the Shasta national forest officers will establish a road camp at Wagon Camp this week to start a crew of men to work on a forest road from Wagon Camp to Gray Butte, where the lookout station is located." (Siskiyou Daily News)
