March 31, 1934: "Earl Montgomery and Laurel Ward are at present stationed here while engaged in locating the new lookout station on Grouse Mountain. We might add this is the first time we have heard of Montgomery and Ward being in the surveying business. It is possible that Sears and Roebuck will be along later with locations already surveyed F.O.B. Chicago." (Blue Lake Advocate)
August 9, 1934: "Work has been started on the Grouse Mountain lookout. Foundations are being laid for the tower and all material is being hauled to the location. If work progresses on this job as it has on others the lower Trinity district will soon have three lookout towers complete." (The Shasta Courier)
August 4, 1956: "A ranger is stationed in the Grouse Mountain lookout of the Six Rivers National forest for the first season since 1947, the U.S. Forest service reports. The lookout is in the south end of the Lower Trinity district." (Eureka Humboldt Times)
