March 29, 1934: "Work outlined for the Alta Loma camp includes the construction of a lookout tower on San Sevaine ridge and continuation of flood control work in Deer creek canyon." (San Bernardino County Sun)
October 2, 1936: "The lookout tower on San Sevaine Mountain was destroyed but its two occupants---Lookout Oliver O. Mittman and Roy Moore, assistant ranger---escaped by following a firebreak down the mountain after the tower had been surrounded by flames." (The Modesto Bee and News-Herald)
June 8, 1937: "Construction of the San Sevaine lookout will start this week, under the direction of Warren A. Divoll, building engineer for San Bernardino national forest.
Conforming to a new standard adopted in 1935, the lookout will have a 10-foot steel tower and a 14-foot square base. One other, at Butler Peak, now is in use.
It replaces the station destroyed by the Etiwanda fire last fall. Mr. Divoll expects to have the lookout ready for duty within a month." (The San Bernardino County Sun)
June 14, 1938: "Glenn E. Downer, lookout at the San Sevaine station, has resigned from the forest service employ, to accept a position as state lookout on Gilman peak in Orange county, it was announced yesterday.
Replacing Downer will be Raymond R. Higgins, who has been at the Mill creek CCC camp on special assignment for the past year." (The San Bernardino County Sun)
