WOLF MOUNTAIN
Nevada County - California Department of Forestry
July 2, 2013: A newspaper article reports that vandals cut through the fence surrounding the lookout and broke into the tower over the past weekend. Besides breaking the door and windows, wires and other items were damaged beyond repair. The lookout is operated by volunteers, and the damage has put the lookout out of service.
July 16, 2014: A call for cash and materials donations have been made in an effort to repair the severely vandal damaged tower. Calfire has given the volunteers a chance to keep the lookout in operation.
May 19, 2015: "The lookout towers, including one at Wolf Mountain in Grass Valley, will now reopen. They need volunteers to keep watch. Persistent vandalism forced Cal Fire to shutter the towers for the past two fire seasons." (Sacramento.cbslocal.com)
