July 10, 1939: "One truck of the Kern county forestry department stood by Saturday afternoon for a 400-acre grass fire just west of the county line in San Louis Obispo county. The blaze was near the Cottonwood Pass and was located on a range of 3000 acres. The Annette lookout spotted the fire and reported to the local forestry headquarters." (Bakersfield Californian)
June 14, 1940: "New items added were Annette lookout station, $500." (Bakersfield Californian)
October 19, 1940: "Kenneth H. Davies and wife lease to county of Kern for term of 15 years portion NW 1/4 section 20, 26-17, for purpose of fire lookout station. Accepted." (Bakersfield Californian)
August 6, 1954: "Hot exhaust fumes were blamed for a grass fire which brought the Annette Lookout crew to property owned by Ernest Still of Cholame at a point four miles southwest of the lookout. The fire, reported at 3 p.m. yesterday, damaged timbers of a windmill and fence posts." (The Bakersfield Californian)
August 12, 1954: "Sparks from burning trash caused the fire that burned a store house to the ground a few miles southwest of Annette, Monday afternoon, firemen reported yesterday. Owner was Dorothy Twisselman of Shandon. A crew from Annette Lookout responded, saving the adjacent ranch house." (The Bakersfield Californian)
