MADULCE PEAK
Los Padres National Forest
September 14, 1932: "The Madulce peak lookout post was reported destroyed last night as the week-old forest fire swept northward still out of control in the upper Sespe creek section. The Pine Mountain lodge and the Don Victor cabin in the vicinity of Reyes peak also were wiped out.
The fire now is in the heart of the best timber in the Santa Barbara National Forest. Edward Decker, Madulce peak lookout, abandoned the post late yesterday afternoon as the fire crept dangerously close. The Reyes peak lookout was destroyed Monday." (Oxnard Daily Courier)
