June 21, 1930: "The Sierra National forest service has established more lookouts on account of the fire hazard in the mountains this summer. In this district the old lookout on Potter ridge was re-established to spot fires within this valley." (Madera Tribune)
June 7, 1968: "Sheriff's deputies report the Deadwood Lookout Tower above Oakhurst was broken into and a walkie talkie, binoculars, 10 wool blankets and 50 gallons of gasoline valued at $780 were removed.
