April 6, 1934: "A truck trail will be built to Little Baldy where a new lookout tower will be erected during the summer. George Magley, now in charge of the Ash Peak tower will probably be transferred to the new one." (Visalia Times-News)
June 25, 1934: "A C.C.C. stub camp is being located at Little Baldy Saddle in the northern section of Sequoia national park. A trail, four feet wide is to be built to Little Baldy and in the fall, the fire tower which is at Ash peak is to be moved to this mountain." (Visalia Times-Delta)
October 12, 1935: "Following the closing of Little Baldy Lookout next week, Fire Lookout George Magley will take up new duties as custodian of the abandoned Schrieber's Flat CCC camp in the North Fork." (Visalia Times-Delta)
October 15, 1935: "George Magley, who has been in charge of Little Baldy lookout station since July 4, was taken suddenly ill Sunday afternoon with a hemorrhage of the nose and was taken to the Woodlake hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Magley are preparing to move down to Schrieber's Flat this week, where they will be caretakers of the buildings occupied last year by the CCC camp." (Visalia Times-Delta)
April 25, 1938: "The fire lookout station on Ash Peak will again be used this season, instead of the newer one at Little Baldy.
After much consideration, observations and records of fires, it was determined that the former place gives better results for lower foothill brush and grass fires than the higher point. There is a haze over the valley in fire season, especially after a few fires, and observations are more difficult than from the lower station.
Another important factor for returning to the old tower is Baldy is on top of a great rock at an elevation which is swept by winds almost every hour of the day and night, making observations difficult and living disagreeable. Only temporary tents for living quarters and a wooden and glass structure is installed there." (Visalia Times-Delta)
