December 14, 1918: "Here's a job for some enterprising, healthy contractor. Thomas W. Sloan, chief ranger in the United States Forest Service in this district, said to a representative of the Pasadena Star-News the first of this week:
"I wish some bright Pasadenan would tell us how to slice off the top of Monrovia Peak so that our lookout at Glendora station could see the country the Monrovia Peak hides. If the top of that mountain were out of the way, our work in that region would be simplified."" (The Arcadia Tribune)
