1940: "Point Dume Lookout Tower, which was under construction during the previous year, was completed and put into operation. This tower, located on Point Dume in Santa Monica Bay, affords direct visibility over a large section of the Santa Monica mountains not covered by Triunfo, Castro or Topanga Lookout Towers." (Los Angeles County Department of Forester and Firewarden and Fire Protection Districts - Annual Report)
June 30, 1946: (1945) "The department lost a lookout tower site when because of a change in ownership and extensive development plans, Point Dume tower had to be removed. Because of its geographical location this tower consisted of a glass room at ground level, and it was therefore possible to remove it intact. At such time as future development in this area indicates, the tower will probably be installed at another location."
