September 21, 1976: "1933: "The forest service has completed a new telephone line from Hinkley Range over the nearby ridges so that it is now possible for Mad River to call and talk direct to Hyampom, Blake lookout, and Iaqua Buttes, directly, without having to call Hayfork; this makes the line over 50 miles shorter and more direct."
