February 23, 1929: "Development of the Lassen Forest patrol system will be accomplished by the addition of a lookout station on Baldy Peak, across the canyon east of Stirling City.
The Forest Service will construct a 60-foot steel lookout tower, build a road to it, provide a telephone line, and lookout's cabin." (California District News Letter)
