June 23, 1939: "Korbel Davis, manager of the Evans Telephone Company, has a crew at Mike's Peak, where a telephone line is being constructed to the new fire lookout at that point. Work is being rushed and it is expected will be completed this week. It is under the general supervision of O. S. Ball, fire warden of this district.

May 11, 1943: "An agreement between the County od Stanislaus and the United States Forest Service was signed today by the board of supervisors under which both will act cooperatively in maintaining an aircraft warning service and fire lookout on Mike's Peak in the Coast Range Mountains.
The county will pay the operations cost, but the federal agency later will make reimbursement. Under this setup, the tower lookout will act as fire spotter between June and September." (The Modesto Bee and News-Herald)
