March 12, 1936: "Two new lookouts will be in operation on the San Bernardino national forest at the beginning of the summer fire season, it was announced yesterday by Robert E. Jones, assistant supervisor.
Workmen will complete the building on Red mountain in the San Jacinto district today. This lookout opens the front country of that area to fire protection observation.
Roads have been built into both posts, and telephone lines have joined them with the forest's communication system." (The San Bernardino County Sun)

October 8, 1975: "The first flurry of snow in the Southern California fall season was reported Tuesday in an isolated area of the San Jacinto Mountains in Riverside County.
The snow fell at Red Mountain Lookout, 15 miles southeast of Hemet, and melted immediately, the U.S. Forest Service reported." (Argus - Fremont)
