April 29, 1938: "Surveys to locate a site for a lookout and radio station on Cemetery Hill east of Quincy are now being conducted by Mack O. Scruggs, Plumas National Forest engineer.
Temporary tent structures were used on the hill last summer, and the station aided in cutting damages caused by fires." (Nevada State Journal)

May 20, 1938: "Construction of a temporary lookout and radio station on Radio Hill, east of Quincy, was started this week as part of the Plumas National Forest fire detection system.
A remote control hook-up at the station will permit broadcasting and receiving from the office. Harold Manson will be in charge." (Nevada State Journal)
May 26, 1938: "The construction of a temporary lookout and radio station on top of Radio Hill, directly east from Plumas Forest headquarters in Quincy, was started last week. Radio operation experiments from the location in connection with fire control last season, proved reception good on this hill. A remote control hook-up between the office and the station, to permit broadcasting and receiving, is to be installed." (Plumas Independent)
May 29, 1948: "On Tuesday, June 1, 21 Plumas forest lookout men will be called to Radio Hill lookout station near Quincy for special detection training before manning their stations June 2 and 3.
Training of lookouts involves a fire finder, map reading, use of high frequency radio, weather observation, smoke identification, and other duties of a forest service lookout. Ten of the Plumas detection men will serve for the first time this season." (Nevada State Journal)
July 19, 1973: "Congressman Harold T. (Bizz) Johnson announced this week that the General Services Administration has declared surplus, the Radio Hill Lookout Site near Quincy.
State and local government agencies will be given priority opportunity, to acquire the land which includes one acre of property with a building on it." (Feather River Bulletin)
December 6, 1973: On November 29, the Plumas County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution authorizing signing of an offer to purchase from the U.S. Government certain real property known as Radio Hill lookout site, Quincy. (Portola Reporter)
