.T2S-R4W-27
October 31, 1951: "An air force transport from Truax Field, Madison, Wis., crashed on Box Springs mountain last night, killing six servicemen.
There were no known survivors.
Flames spurted skyward and were spotted by a forest ranger in a lookout station atop the mountain.
The plane crashed at the 3,000-foot level. Fog and the rough terrain delayed recovery of the bodies.
The plane left Amarillo, Tex., yesterday afternoon bound for Norton Air Force base near San Bernardino, Calif." (Prescott Evening Courier - Arizona)
