FREDONYER
Lassen County - California Department of Forestry - 33N-12E-25
June 17, 1946: "Lookout has been stationed on Fredonyer peak." (Nevada State Journal)
August 3, 1960: "In cooperative study between the State Forestry Division and the Weather Bureau, a time lapse camera was installed at the lookout. The lookout is instructed to photograph any build up of clouds they can see. They can't see at night and that's where radar is especially valuable.
Eventually, as a result of these observations, it is hoped that firefighters will be warned far enough in advance to move in before the fires start.
(This was when a radar system was set up to give early warning on lightning storms.) (Star-News)
