May 25, 1916: "A telephone line is being built up Indian creek near Happy Camp to the mouth of South Fork, thence to the Bald Mountain lookout station. This work has been progressing rapidly since the first of the month by the forest service." (Siskiyou Daily News)
June 1, 1916: "Work will be completed Saturday by Ranger Morgan on the telephone line from Happy Camp to Bally mountain lookout." (Siskiyou Daily News)
April 19, 1917: "We learn that David Cuddihy has accepted the position as look-out at Bally mountain for the service, season of 1917. Mr. Cuddihy will make a good man for this place as he is well acquainted with all this section of the country." (Siskiyou Daily News)
June 28, 1917: "District Ranger M. M. Morgan is busily engaged surveying a trail to connect with Bally Mountain lookout. David Cuddihy and Henry E. Beck are driving the trail." (Siskiyou Daily News)
August 16, 1917: "Because of heart trouble, David Cuddihy, forest service lookout at Bally mountain, has resigned. He was afraid to remain in a high altitude and longer. He has been a good man as a lookout and his loss is keenly felt by Ranger Morgan. Wilbur Martin has accepted the position temporarily." (Siskiyou Daily News)

May 1, 1919: "Spring construction work will be building two lookout trails trails, one near Happy Camp and the other on Offield mountain near Somes Bar. And, a standard lookout house on Baldy mountain." (Siskiyou Daily News)
May 29, 1919: "Geo. Smith of Walker arrived at the Indian Creek ranger station on the 22d with supplies for the Baldy Mountain lookout. He proceeded up to the Ince ranch on South Fork from which point the supplies will be packed up the mountain." (Siskiyou Daily News)
September 25, 1919: "With the closing of the fire season, Protective Assistant L. J. Roberts and Guard Nicholas Effman proceeded to the Baldy Mountain lookout station where they will put the finishing touches on the new lookout house." (Siskiyou Daily News)
October 9, 1919: "The fire season having closed, Ranger Morgan has furloughed all guards until the spring of 1920. August 5, 1920: "The forest service fire patrol airplane passed within thirty feet of the Baldy Mountain lookout station on July 27. May 19, 1921: "Ranger E. M. Sutcliff and assistant, Nicolas Effman, were making repairs to the Baldy Mountain telephone line last week. They worked to within a mile of the lookout station, but could go no further on account of soft snow, about six feet deep." (Siskiyou Daily News)
June 30, 1921: "Tom C. Ince, forest guard, who became ill while doing relief duty at the Baldy mountain lookout station, was brought to the ranger station at Indian creek by District Ranger E. M. Sutcliffe. L. P. Hanson was assigned to the place, pending the return of Lookout Martin, who is on furlough for a few days.

THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 6 MILES WEST OF HAPPY CAMP, BETWEEN
DOOLITTLE CREEK AND BOULDER CREEK, AND ABOUT 1/2 MILE EAST
SOUTHEAST OF THE HIGHEST POINT OF BALDY MOUNTAIN.
THE LOOKOUT HOUSE IS A STANDARD U.S. FOREST SERVICE LOOKOUT
HOUSE WHICH IS ABOUT 14 FEET SQUARE AND ABOUT 25 FEET HIGH.
IT IS ABOUT 0.4 MILE EAST SOUTHEAST OF STATION BALDY MTN.
THE CENTER OF THE HOUSE WAS INTERSECTED.
